In 2008, when the surge was proven to be a success in Iraq, the main stream media blitzed the airways on a 24-7 loop, telling the American audience how our soldiers needed to come home from Iraq; that it was a bunk war; highlighting casualties. Barack Obama ran on the platform of bringing the troops home ASAP were he to get elected....Obama, after all, thought going into Iraq was a mistake in the first place.
But my beef isn't with President Obama for politicizing both wars - he's already proven to be full of rhetoric, so his shift in policy doesn't come as a big surprise. My beef is with the hypocritical, anti-war liberals, who voted for Obama on the premise that he would bring an end to the war in Iraq. These hypocritical Obama supporters are littered in the media as well. They've all but stopped putting emphasis on Iraq and Afghanistan.
I try not to generalize; there are quite a few disappointed liberals out there, who, through their naivety, thought Obama was sincere in his rhetoric. But most of the liberal base are not holding Obama accountable. These 'anti-war' liberals were anti-war before the election. As soon as Obama got elected, they forgot Iraq and Afghanistan. Those in the media who once played the 24-7 loop about the disaster of both wars, since Obama has been President, have conveniently forgotten their pre-election outrage.
Never mind that Obama lied. Never mind that he's full of rhetoric. Never mind that he contradicts himself and talks out both sides of his mouth in speeches on a weekly basis. Most of us who have been paying attention, and are not naive, have come to expect such. But what is really outrageous, is the manufactured outrage on both wars pre-election, compared to now. Obama's army politicized both wars right alongside him; his supporters are a bunch of damned hypocrites.
